Christina Schönbach is a jugendlich dramatic soprano based in The Netherlands. She is currently being coached by Jeanne-Michele Charbonnet and Peter Nilsson.
Christina completed her studies in Classical Solo Voice at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague in 2015. In the summer of 2018, she joined the Music Academy Internetional (MAI) in Trentino, performing the role of Almera in the European premiere of Dark Sisters by Nico Muhly.
She was a member Dutch Opera Studio between 2014 and 2018, performing roles such as Suor Angelica, Rusalka, and Erste Dame (Zauberflöte). Most recently, she sang the role of Sieglinde in Richard Wagner’s Die Walküre at the Nassaukerk in Amsterdam.
During the 2016/17 season, Christina was enrolled in the International Opera Studio in Patras, Greece, where she performed the role of Eurydice in Gluck´s Orphée, and sang in several concerts.
For the past three years, Christina has been broadening her repertoire with (jugendlich-) dramatic roles: Aida (Verdi, Aida), Marie (Smetana, Die verkaufte Braut), Desdemona (Verdi, Otello), Chimène (Massenet, Le Cid), Vanessa (Barber, Vanessa), Manon Lescaut (Puccini).
In her own programmes, Christina contrives to use all of her dramatic repertoire. She creates theatrical concerts, telling stories about women in different situations. The newest show is called ‘ELLE – A Woman’s Voice’ – read more about it here, or view the TRAILER.
Apart from the traditional classical and opera repertoire, Christina has been  involved in theater and contemporary music, as well as jazz and musical. She enjoys working with young composers and has worked with established contemporary composers, such as Louis Andriessen, Reinbert de Leeuw, Martijn Padding and Guus Jansen. The latestatest of her projects in this genre is the event Eendagsliederen at the Amsterdam Grachtenfestival in August 2017, broadcast on national Dutch radio.
In the 2015-16 season Christina was part of the contemporary opera ‘De Koeien‘ (Misha Mengelbers/Guus Jansen) with the ICP Orchestra. In Toneelgroep De Appel’s production of Ovid’s Metamorphoses in 2014/15, she was involved as singing actress.
As a jazz singer, Christina is regularly heard with her band The Blue Shoes.
Christina has songs and arias on her repertoire suitable for weddings and funerals.
